Ice Cups for Sunny Days!

A frozen treat is a great way to cool your pup off and give them some brain work during these warm summer days, and have I got some ideas for you! I’m a big believer in freezing just about anything you give your dog after they’ve been properly introduced with the same item, unfrozen; peanut butter, wet dog food, canned pumpkin, apples…you name it.

Today, we have a tried-and-true fun-in-the-sun ice cup enrichment treat submitted by one of my pet parents and her dog, Sunny! Sunny is a 3-month-old mini Bernedoodle who gets the zoomies early in the day, so morning enrichment is imperative to help her get that energy out and give mom a minute to wake up. One way to do this is have something ready to pull out of the freezer, prepared ahead of time.

Sunny’s mom used silicon cupcake liners, low sodium chicken stock, and chicken jerky. You can use any type of broth, stock, or even plain water and any dog-safe chew - just make sure there’s nothing that will upset your dog’s stomach. As you can see in Sunny’s pupsicle, her mom made sure part of the jerky was sticking out, to give her something a little easier to grab hold of, and help her understand that’s what’s hidden in that ice!

I think it’s a hit!
